Masoli Gets Probation; Lied To Kelly About Crime

UPDATE (5:25p ET): KOIN-TV reports that Masoli denied his involvement in the burglary he admitted to committing today to Oregon Coach Chip Kelly and Eugene Police:

Jeremiah Masoli arraigned in Lane County Court

(Masoli at his court appearance in Eugene today)

In an affidavit just provided to KOIN, Eugene police officer Julie Smith said that when she interviewed Masoli the day after the incident (Jan. 25), he denied being there.

Smith also said she spoke with head coach Chip Kelly on Feb. 2 and he said Masoli told him (Kelly) that he wasn’t at the fraternity house on the night of the incident.

That news may well have a significant impact on the discipline Masoli receives from Oregon football Coach Chip Kelly.

KOIN-TV in Eugene reports that today in Lane County Courthouse, Oregon Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli and former Ducks player Garrett Embry each pleaded guilty to misdemeanor second degree burglary.

The presiding judge ordered both to pay restitution - in 10 days or less - of the property they stole from an Oregon fraternity house on Jan. 24. Both men were also sentenced to probation.
