When a key senior is arrested for marijuana and gun possession the weekend before the game that can get your high school basketball team into the state quarterfinals, what do you do? Suspend him? Expel him? Give him a stern lecture?

Or do you make sure he’s on the court in the final moments so he can pop home the winning basket as the buzzer sounds? If you’re Lafayette (LA) High, you choose the latter. After all, who’s going to guard the guy with the gun? Savvy.

Bob Kravitz of the INDIANAPOLIS STAR reports today that Indiana Pacers center David Harrison has been suspended by the league for five games after his third positive test for marijuana.

The Pacers were more shocked than upset by the news, because the league never informed them on any positive drug tests by Harrison.
Pacers President Larry Bird said, “How are we supposed to get a guy the help he needs when we’re not told he’s tested positive?”

RICKY’S SEASON NIPPED IN THE BUD AFTER CHEST INJURY: Well, that was quick.
Only six carries into his first NFL game in 18 months, and Ricky Williams is already out for the season:
The PALM BEACH POST reports that the Dolphins RB tore a chest muscle during Monday’s night mudbath against the Steelers.The injury came during the 2nd quarter, when a Pittsburgh LB stepped on Williams’ shoulder while chasing after Ricky’s fumble. Sources say Williams will need at least four months to fully recover.
Luckily, Ricky should already have proper medicine handy.
HITMAN RICKY WILLIAMS ENABLED REINSTATED BY THE NFL The SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL reports today that Ricky Williams has been reinstated to the NFL by commissioner Roger Goodell. The running back-depleted (and winless) Dolphins have two weeks to decide if they want him.
Sun-Sentinel: “
Williams relocated from his Yoga farm in Northern California to Boston last June where he has been undergoing therapy in a private treatment center since. It is believed Williams is being treated for his society-anxiety disorder, which could be linked to his past abuse of marijuana.“
Williams tested positive for marijuana last April, but thanks to that time in the Boston treatment center -
and a personal plea from Williams to Goodell - the league reinstated him.
More importantly, what will now become of his beloved Yoga farm?
