CBS 11 in DFW reports today that former major league pitcher and current bullpen coach of the Seattle Mariners John Wetteland has been hospitalized at Denton Regional Medical Center in the Dallas area.
(Wetteland was World Series MVP for Yankees in 1996)
Denton County officials say Wetteland was hospitalized for a mental health issue. The Denton County Sheriff’s office says they took a call from the Bartonville area around 12:30 Thursday on a possibly suicidal person. When officers arrived to the home, a man later identified as Wetteland came out with his hands in the air, saying he “needed help.”
