ESPN Tours Can Cause NCAA Violations? LMAO

A high school recruit’s visit to the ESPN studios may have gotten the University of Connecticut into trouble with the NCAA.

Shelley Smith reports that her employer may have helped the Huskies commit violations when they allowed women’s basketball recruit Maya Moore to take a trip around the Bristol-based buildings. Sources say the UConn-requested tour was considered an “improper benefit” that Moore received during her 2005 visit to the school.

The NCAA apparently began the investigation after receiving a tip from the Huskies’ biggest on-court nemesis. Read more…

NCAA Women’s Hoops Lost $169 Million in ‘05-’06

The US Department of Education reported that the NCAA’s 333 Division I women’s basketball programs that competed in the 2005-2006 season lost a cumulative amount of ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-NINE MMMILLION DOLLARS!

THE SPORTS ECONOMIST, via the ST. PETERSBURG TIMES reported that the figure might even be conservative, indicating that 80 programs matched revenues to expenses, down to the last dollar. There was no word on what percentage of the deficit was spent on high heels, tanning memberships, or hair appointments.

Pressing Question: Does St. John’s Coach Jerk It?

DC SPORTS BOG phones in news that those cranksters who livened up Tuesday’s SEC women’s teleconference have struck again - this time hitting the Big East.

Thursday’s call-in was met with some lewd comments from perverted pranksters posing as reporters. Apparently the questions was even worse than those asked to the southern belles a few days before, since the CHICAGO TRIBUNE claimed that “most are not suitable for print.”

Like the SEC, Big East officials aren’t sure how the callers got hold of the conference’s number. But as the dirty questions went on, many callers were refused access to the coaches - even those that may have been actual reporters. So, what were they asking?
