Herm Edwards may be a lousy football coach, but he’s a great life coach. Five Chiefs players took in a special NBA preseason game in Kansas City and, according to a fan sitting next to them, turned down the offer to enjoy some “bye week bong hits.”
(Herm’s 1-4, but feeling no pain)
Larry Johnson, Dwayne Bowe, Bernard Pollard, Kolby Smith and Turk McBride had $200 courtside seats to the Hawks/Trail Blazers exhibition at the Sprint Center Friday night, and apparently had the chance to blaze more than a trail, according to HERM EDWARDS SUPPORT GROUP, a blog with a tasteful URL that I’m shocked Blogspot allows. (Surprising lack of Ricky Williams jokes after the jump.)
Obviously take anything from a blogger named “HIV 2 Elway” with a grain of salt, though it does establish his fan credentials. But he had the story up and correctly named the players at the game before the KANSAS CITY STAR did. And anyone who is that generous with his stash seems like a stand-up guy:
Being drunk and loud, I spent much of the game trying to get the Chiefs to blaze some chronic. I can think of no better way to spend a Friday night than pulling tubes with my favorite football team. Pollard looked interested but, alas the Chiefs were passing on bye week bong rips.
Of course marijuana is illegal under the drug policies of both the NFL and the civilized world, but for the 1-4 Chiefs, I can’t really see the harm in trying something to loosen up the team. I wouldn’t be shocked if Herm, merry prankster that he is, serves some special brownies at next week’s pregame spread.
