Stevie Wonder To Be Grand Marshal at NASCAR Race

STEVIE WONDER NOT SUPERSTITIOUS TO STAR FOR NASCAR: Stevie Wonder has been chosen to serve as Grand Marshal for a NASCAR race in September:

RACING MILESTONES is on the fast track with the news that Wonder will shout (or hopefully sing) “Gentlemen, start your engines!” for the Sharp AQUOS 500, to be held at the California Speedway.

Speedway President Gillian Zucker (no relation to David or Jerry, we think) is said to be “absolutely thrilled” to have Wonder a part of the September 2 event, which will be shown by ESPN. Maybe the Worldwide Leader will use the Draft Track over Stevie’s hair.

So, NASCAR has asked Stevie Wonder to appear at a driving event sponsored by a TV manufacturer - two things the blind singer/songwriter can’t do or watch. Is this an honor, or some cruel joke?
