SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL reports Monterrey, Mexico, has quietly emerged as a frontrunner to possibly host the Expos as early as next season.

Expos President Tony Tavares visited the city last week to tour Estadio Monterrey, a 27,000-seat ballpark that also includes 60 suites. The stadium could seat 30,000 with the addition of bleachers.

Like San Juan, Monterrey has offered to host either 22 games next season - or all 81.
