Sporting News Radio Negotiating With Dan Patrick For Midday Slot

THE INTERNETS REALLY SUCK WHEN YOU’RE CAUGHT LYING: Yesterday the LOS ANGELES TIMES had the owner/operator of SPORTING NEWS RADIO (and the man with two last names) Clancy Woods denying that the radio network was in the running for the services of Dan Patrick: “I don’t think we are in the loop on this one.”

SbB has since learned that Woods and network Program Director Bill Pugh (Patrick’s brother, by the way) have been feverishly negotiating with Patrick about taking over the network’s midday slot since they found out ESPN wasn’t going to grant his absurd salary (increase) demands. Expect Patrick to eventually land at SNR (if they’re stil on the air when he gets there).

Tony Bruno Hooters

Speaking of absurd, the outrageous $700,000 per year salary of anonymous Sporting News Radio morning man Tony Bruno is about to be blown out. As a cliched Canadian hockey announcer would coin it: He’s done like dinner.

UPDATE: An industry source tells SbB today that Patrick has turned down SNR and that CBS has entered the fray, with the network targeting WFAN radio as his destination (we know, this really isn’t new, earth-shattering news).
