Former Clemson and NFL player Gaines Adams died this morning at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, South Carolina.
Roy Philpott of Scout.com reports from Piedmont, SC:
The report said an autopsy will be performed today by a forensic pathologist in Anderson County. No further details have been released but CUTigers has learned he is believed to have passed away in his sleep from a heart attack.
Coroner Jim Coursey said Adams appeared to be in perfect health.An autopsy was planned in Anderson County, The Greenville News reported.The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office and the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office are investigating.

Coroner ruled that Bears DE Gaines Adams died of cardiac arrest caused by an enlarged heart. Prayers are with his family and friends.
