I was holding out for a Steve Lyons card, but Lou Piniella stole it from the guy that was going to trade with me.

Forgive the name, because very, very, very obscure Simpsons references are gonna get me nowhere.

One more thing on Singleton, before he got the White Sox radio gig, he did some stuff on ESPN Radio before, so I guess they liked him. But man, he's hard to listen to. He's gonna be exponentially worse on live TV.

...couldn't you have gotten a Lyle Mouton & 2 Jim Parques for that card?

Oh, and that card was traded from my collection for a near-mint Jody Davis card bent slightly around his back to accentuate the hunchback.

That's a fair point, Precious Religious Artifact Caretaker. He also worked a bit for TBS last fall, though, under rather tedious circumstances. He may prefer to announce games, which is taken at ESPN.

A better gripe from me would have been to ask why we can't have more like Steve Stone and fewer like Chris Singleton. Too much to ask? I guess so.

Steve Stone used to do the Wednesday Afternoon Baseball games on ESPN a couple of years ago with Gary Thorne, Steve Phillips, and sometimes Gary Miller. I think Stone wanted to do an everyday job back in Chicago and not be stuck next to Eric Young & Orestes Destrade in Bristol.
