Sgt. Daniel Thornhill has recently returned from Iraq and is going through a painful rehab. The victim of a bomb blast, Sgt. Thornhill has lost both his legs and suffered burns to 30% of his body. Worse of all, Daniel’s parents are worried that their son thinks no one cares about him or the sacrifices he made in service to his country.

Daniel’s folks chatted yesterday with Roger Lodge, host of “The Sports Lodge” morning show on AM 830 in Orange County, CA, and made a small but special request to his listeners: If you could, please show Daniel you care by sending him a birthday card.
Although Sgt. Thornhill’s actual birthday was on May 17, it’s better late than never. From an email sent to us from Roger describing Daniel’s parents’ request:
Not money, not our time, but a simple birthday card for their son Daniel…
Their son who thinks nobody cares about him.
Our station got BOMBARDED with thousands of E-mails from people who
want to send him a birthday card to lift his spirits!
If my little, local show can get 2100 e-mails on this, just think how
many birthday cards he could get from your readers!!!
If you would like to send belated birthday wishes to Sgt. Thornhill, or even a simple “get well soon” or “thank you” note, here’s the address:
