SHAQ-HOSTED WEIGHT LOSS REALITY SHOW IS WHOPPER: TV reporter Hal Boedeker of the ORLANDO SENTINEL has the gall to suggest that Shaquille O’Neal is a curious choice to host a TV show (”Shaq’s Big Challenge”) about childhood obesity.

Boedeker relays that earlier this week O’Neal claimed to reporters in a conference call that he “had less than 14 percent body fat.”

O’Neal: “Right now, I’m 335. I plan on staying this weight.”

But Sentinel medical writer Robyn Shelton notes that based on Shaq’s own touted body weight, his body fat claim isn’t accurate. In fact, it’s laughable.
Shelton: “The NBA Web site says that O’Neal stands 7-feet-1. At that height and 335 pounds, O’Neal has a body mass index of 32.6, which is considered obese.”

A current claim that Shaq is obese? That means Shelton is about five years late to the party.
