Shaq Gives Cold Shoulder To Ex-Heat Teammates

As Shaquille O’Neal arrived in Beantown for tonight’s game against the Celtics, Jackie MacMullan of the BOSTON GLOBE caught a few words from the Suns star about his new & old teams.

While the Big Cactus said he enjoys being with Steve Nash, coach Mark D’Antoni and the rest of his Phoenix pals, his reaction to his former Miami Heat teammates was a little more cold:

“I love playing for this coach and I love playing with these guys,” said O’Neal yesterday. “We have professionals who know what to do. No one is asking me to play with Chris Quinn or Ricky Davis. I’m actually on a team again.”

The same Chris Quinn who scored a career-high 24 points in Miami’s Monday win over the Bucks?

Shaq also had something to say about Pat Riley and the way he’s been running the Heat:

“I guess when you have a lot of power, you can do what you want. Me? If I ever came into that kind of power, I think I’d be willing to admit it if I messed up.”

But it wasn’t just Heat players Shaq had a go at. He also had some backhanded comments for some former Celtics when talking about this evening’s matchup:

“I’m looking forward to [tonight]. I’ve never played them when they were Boston Boston. Back when they had those teams with Rick Fox and ‘Nique [Dominique Wilkins], they were only Sort Of Boston. Now it’s Boston Boston.”

Maybe Shaq will stop by Little Caesars after the game for some pizza pizza. But don’t eat too much, or he’ll spend all night on the can can.
