Sure, Terrell Owens is trying out his thespian talents, and Jason Taylor has already danced his way into the heart of millions. But Craig Terrill has an even better post-football career planned - as a rock ‘n’ roll star!
Jose Miguel Romero of the SEATTLE TIMES sings the praises of Terrill, a defensive tackle for the Seahawks who spends his time off the field singing & strumming on the music stage.
And it’s not just a garage band Terrill’s rockin’ & rollin’ with - Craig has actually landed some pretty good gigs. He strummed the national anthem at playoff game last year at Qwest Field. He joined up with Seahawks owner Paul Allen’s band to open for Seal. And most impressively, this month he played at a wine party.
So, how good is Terrill? Good enough to swoon his soon-to-be-wife:
The Terrills formed a band called The Strangers while Craig was at Purdue. That’s where Craig sang his way into the heart of the woman who would become his wife, Rachel.
Craig walked Rachel to her car one night after a class. She’d heard he could sing.”I said, ‘Well, can you sing me a song?’” she asked. “So he sang about four nice songs out there by our cars and I was smitten. It was a couple of years later before we started dating, but he had me that night.”
Sorry, ladies - seems this rock star’s taken.
Besides his better half, other Seahawk teammates have been supportive of Craig’s musical talent. Many of them have the CD he released in December. In fact, Patrick Kearney’s been known to play it while working out in the team’s weight room.
You can listen to Terrill’s tunes for yourself by checking out his MySpace page. And whether you like his melodies or not, Craig is gonna keep on jammin’:
“If you get up there and stink it up, you’re still having fun playing music,” Terrill said, adding with a laugh, “and no one’s going to boo me, because I’m a big guy.”
So, not only can Terrill rock the house, he’s can also serve as his own stage security.
