SASHA COHEN GETTING MORE THAN A HAND FROM NHLER? The BOSTON HERALD reports figure skater Sasha Cohen, in town to promote the “Champions on Ice” tour stop at TD Banknorth Garden, was forced to wear hockey skates during a skating session at a local rink after her luggage was lost by US Airways.
Cohen: “I had to wear hockey skates that (Bruins winger) Dennis Wideman brought for me.”
I’m wondering if Wideman paid off the baggage handlers at US Airways, since, according to the Boston Bruins website, Wideman was soon seen holding hands with Cohen “to prevent her from falling in her new hockey skates … (now) she will be a lifelong Bruins fan.“
Cohen’s friend, male figure skater Garrett Lucash (who obviously is no competition for Wideman), said “I have always been a fan of all the Boston teams. I am always trying to get Sasha to root for our teams and basically, all the factors are working.
“She likes the colors, she likes bears and she knows someone on the team.”
Cohen: “That is my rule, you have to know someone on the team before you root for (a team).”
Thank goodness the standings aren’t a consideration.
