GIANTS GO FROM ONE FREAKISH STRONG MAN TO ANOTHER: Last weekend, the San Francisco Giants hosted a unique event at AT&T Park: A simulcast of the San Francisco Opera’s production of “Samson and Delilah” on the park’s 103-foot wide high-definition scoreboard.

The Giants’ MLB.com reports “nearly 3,000 people filled the seats behind home plate and snuggled down in the outfield to watch the opera with a little ballpark flavor. It was Budweiser and baritones, salty pretzels and sopranos, hot dogs and heroics for the ages under the starry night.

You probably know the story line of the opera, which of course is centered on the strange source of Samson’s strength - his hair. And once Delilah, a diehard Dodger fan, lops off his lettuce, suddenly he’s reduced to warning track power.
