Sam Cassell is either in need of a little extra cash now that his services are rumored to only be worth the NBA’s veteran minimum or an aficionado in the fine art of pole dancing.
The 38 year-old point guard who won his third championship ring in June as a member of the Celtics is listed as a “Confirmed Celebrity Judge“ at the 1st Annual Pole Star Invitational. The event, which is going down in Hollywood on Sunday night, is a “spotlight on the best talent in the country.” Hopefully that same spotlight won’t shine on Cassell’s face for extended periods of time.
With the winner taking home $10,000 and everyone else going home with a gift bag, the fate of 20 lovely ladies who not only had the athleticism and artistry to qualify for Sunday night’s final, but also had 20 friends willing to pay $50 to attend the event, rests in the hands of Cassell. The Milwaukee Bucks’ ninth best player in franchise history is joined on the panel of celebrity judges by a comedian named Chris Spencer, someone named Cassie Walton (Google searches brought back nothing) and Amber Rayne (if you’re at work avoid Google searching her name).
One can only hope that contestants like Dani’l McGill, who’s headshot was taken in front of a mirror in a locker room or the 24 year-old divorced mother of three Sienna Christensen are able to handle the pressure of performing, knowing that such star power is just a few feet away judging their technical, artistic and presentation skills.
