When we saw the quiet announcement today that Royal Ivey of the Milwaukee Bucks would enjoy a three-game vacation due to (in the NBA’s words) “punching Chicago Bulls center Aaron Gray in the groin” on Monday, we just had to see the 6′4″ Ivey attack the 7′0″ Gray’s area.
Thanks to the intrepid investigative work of ODENIZED, we have been rewarded. Watch the goofy tall white man in the post (Gray). At the 0:04 mark, Ivey collapses on Gray to double down when the ball’s fed in. At the 0:05 mark, Gray collapses to the ground and does not get back up. This is like the Zapruder film, except the shot is to the groin.
So what caused this fist to Gray’s anatomy? We have a suggestion…
This clip is from the 12/28/07 meeting between the two clubs. Watch Aaron Gray level Royal Ivey on a screen at halfcourt, leaving the much smaller guard in pain and thoroughly embarrassed.
Do you think Ivey might have a high capacity for revenge? The Monday game gave Ivey his first chance at revenge; Gray only played 20 seconds in the 3/29 tilt between the two teams.
More importantly, do you think 30 NBA teams noticed Ivey’s capacity for wrongdoing? The game Ivey missed Wednesday against the Timberwolves only accounts for one of the three suspended games. It’s also his last game under contract with the Bucks; he’s a free agent this summer.
We hope Royal Ivey enjoyed his revenge served cold because there’s every chance that he’ll find himself out in the cold when rosters are set this summer. Why would an NBA franchise take on a wild card with limited talent like Ivey and have him miss the first two games of the 2008-2009 season?
Also, sleep with one eye open, young man; you don’t punch Johnny “Red” Kerr’s son from another father without expecting retribution.

Both coaches in that game are now considering studying for their real estate licenses.
