For anyone who still has doubts about Ron Artest’s sanity, this should answer any questions: He would have no problem playing for the Knicks:
The NEW YORK POST catches up with the Sacramento star, who’s in the Big Apple for the Kings’ sole season appearance at Madison Square Garden. However, Artest won’t have the chance to entertain his hometown crowd, as he’s scheduled to have elbow surgery.
Once he gets healthy again, Artest said he wouldn’t mind playing for New York, believing he cam help clean up a messy situation: “Anywhere I go, I can turn things around, given the opportunity. I definitely would not be opposed to it if that is my calling.”
So it appears it’s in God’s court now. Although a trade this season seems unlikely, Artest could opt out of his contract next year - if he doesn’t mind leaving $8.5 million on the table.
The Knicks would be glad to have him - especially for his expertise in crowd control. Just let the MSG fans try to flash their “Fire Isiah” signs now.
