The Houston Rockets won their 21st consecutive game last night, and even if it was against the Bobcats, this streak the team has put together is out of control.
But it could all end tomorrow.
The Rockets have a brutal stretch of schedule coming up: They host the Lakers tomorrow, then Boston on Tuesday. Then the Rockets take a three-game road trip, heading east to New Orleans for a game the very next night. And then they head west, young man, to play Golden State on Friday, and then back east they go again to play Phoenix on Saturday.
CHRON.COM mentions that winning through that stretch “…will certainly silence critics who say they’re still not a title contender and have feasted on a weak schedule since their last loss — to Utah on Jan. 27.”
Hey, 21 straight wins against anyone is impressive. Consider that Houston is also 9-0 since losing center Yao Ming with a stress fracture on February 26th. Consider that in the year 2008, Houston is 30-4. Consider that every team on their schedule for the duration will be (and has been) giving their best to kill the second-greatest streak in NBA history.
“The [21st] win sets up Sunday’s showdown with the current Lakers at the Toyota Center. They’re both 45-20, the best records in the West.”
It’s time to see how great these Rockets can be.
