SbB BREAKING - RICK REILLY LEAVING SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SbB has learned that longtime SPORTS ILLUSTRATED columnist and celebrated author Rick Reilly is departing the sports magazine.

The 49-year-old Reilly, who first joined SI in 1985, will officially leave the company when his contract expires on November 30 to pursue a career in television.
UPDATE: Poster “jason_whitlock” at SportsJournalists.com posts that Reilly starts at ESPN in June. He has to sit out because of six month non-compete.
UPDATE #2: Esteemed sports media columnist for the NEW YORK TIMES, Richard Sandomir, reports the news. ESPN and Reilly’s agent have no comment on what Reilly’s role will be with the WWL.
