We really love the college football recruiting game. Those *experts* from recruiting *services* are the closest thing we have in real, live sports to professional wrestling managers.
You’re usually either REALLY interested in recruiting, or not at all. We’re the latter. So this is only other piece of speculation we’ll post today about Terrelle Pryor, the nation’s top high school football recruit. But today is signing day, so we thought we’d point out what the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE is reporting today.
A few of Pryor’s friends and acquaintances told the Post-Gazette Ohio State is Pryor’s top choice. One unnamed source said Pryor told him recently he would sign with Ohio State. … Trinity senior linebacker Andrew Sweat, an Ohio State recruit, and two other Buckeye recruits met with Pryor a week-and-half ago in Jeannette. Sweat believes Pryor will choose Ohio State.
“He didn’t tell me he was committed, but he sounded like he was going to Ohio State,” Sweat said.
Our guess is that more than anything, Pryor is looking to play with a teammate with the last name “Sweat.”
We do find it interesting that Penn State was never really a front runner in the recruiting process for Pryor, as Pennsylvania is his home state. But then we remembered that Joe Paterno is the Punxsutawney Phil of college coaches - only leaving the house once every offseason.
Also remember that when Rich Rodriguez was at West Virginia, the Mountaineers were considered a likely destination for the 6-6 QB. Obviously Pryor wasn’t too fond of the circumstances surrounding Rodriguez’s departure - from both a WVU and UM perspective.
UPDATE: MDS at COLLEGE FOOTBALL TALK has a source saying Pryor will go to Michigan.
