At long last, Matt Millen’s moronic reign appears to be over in the Motor City. Jay Glazer of FOX SPORTS reports that the Detroit Lions have finally given their much-criticized president & GM the heave-ho.
It’s not immediately known if Millen was fired or resigned, but the important thing for Lions fans is that Matt has been removed. Glazer describes how it all went down:
Millen was informed of the move last night during a late-night high-level meeting. This morning several people within the building confirmed that he had large packing boxes in his office and he made his way around to different employees telling them of the move.
No word if Tatum Bell swiped any of Matt’s boxes. Honestly, he thought they belonged to a former teammate.

Why did it take 3 years to figure out he wasn't the right person for the job??? Detriot has had the talent to be a competative team. Hopefully, this will spark some energy in the team!

Millen was hired in 2001… he's been running that team into the ground for the better part of a decade now.
Bill Simmons had a good riff in his NFL picks column last week pointing out that it's hard to believe that Millen was once the best NFL analyst on TV - he's been so inept as a GM that it's strange to think of him as good at something.
