The BOSTON GLOBE’s EXTRA BASES blog notes that both NESN’s and ESPN2’s signal on Direct TV was out this morning, so there were presumably tens of thousands of Red Sox fans S.O.L. this morning.
If only we could hear “Bonk’s” excuse to the boss this morning. We’re also waiting for CNN’s live, overhead coverage as the Boston public transit system buckles this morning.

The same issue occurred in Chicago. However, how can you fault DirecTV? How could they know there would be people interested in baseball in the morning?
