YOUR GEFF IS AS GOOD AS MINE: The BOSTON HERALD reports that the Red Sox are expected to fire radio announcer Jerry Trupiano after this season and replace him with Glenn Geffner. Trupiano’s on-air partner Joe Castiglione is on thin ice, but will likely survive at least one more season.
Geffner is a longtime public relations guy who has worked for Red Sox President Larry Lucchino in San Diego and Boston. He also was the radio announcer and PR guy for Rochester in the International League, when I broadcasted for Columbus in the same circuit.
It’s an ironic move by the Red Sox, considering Trupiano brought personality and passion to the broadcast while Castiglione’s call consistently falls flat.
