Tuffy passes along word from the CHICAGO TRIBUNE that former Illinois star Rashard Mendenhall was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning.
The ex-Illini RB and Pittsburgh Steelers draft pick was back in the Windy City, when he and a friend were held up by two men around 2 a.m. near the corner of 39th Street and Lake Shore Drive.
Rashard’s mom Sybil confirmed that her son was robbed, with the robbers running off with his wallet and cell phone. However, she adds that Rashard is fine, saying, “He didn’t get hit or anything, he didn’t get hurt or anything.”
So far, police have no suspects in custody. Authorities may want to check the NFL waiver wire for any players released by Minnesota, since some ex-Vikings have spurred a little recent crime wave of their own.
Or insert your own Bengals joke here - since we’re tired of doing it.

But also? There’s exactly two things near that area: jack and excrement. Helluva place to be at 2 am. Sounds like that GTA IV marathon ran a little too late.
