Toronto Raptors coach Sam Mitchell says he wouldn’t be afraid to sing the Canadian national anthem - if the money was right.
The TORONTO SUN reports that Mitchell would be willing to belt out “O Canada” before a Raptors game, but he would want a performance fee of $25,000. However, he’s not being as greedy as he sounds:
“I’ll tell you what I’ll do. You get the newspaper to pay me $25,000 and I’ll donate the money to charity,” he said. “And I’ll sing the national anthem before the game … but the money has to go to charity.”
Mitchell says he knows the words & music, and admits he actually likes the song, as compared to other national tunes:
“I actually think it’s a nice anthem,” he said. “It’s actually singable. The Star Spangled Banner is tough.”
WHAT?!?!? Besmirching our great American anthem?! Traitor! Terrorist! Tree-Hugger! Two-Timing Toronto Troll!
Then again, he may have a point.

Maybe all of the Raptors should leave the Canadian anthem to the professionals.
