Raiders: QB Russell Lost ‘Quite a Bit’ Of Weight

Longtime Oakland Raiders staffer Willie Brown appeared on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s Chronicle Live on Monday to claim that JaMarcus Russell has lost a “quite a bit of weight” thanks to “special meals” and supervision from a former Raiders player.

(That’s JaBlargus, not JaMarcus)

“You’ll be surprised when you see him. It’s quite a bit of weight that he’s lost. I don’t want to pin it down and say how much he lost but it will be a significant difference when you see him compared to last year.

“The most important thing is he’s getting in shape. Not only losing weight, but getting in shape. He’s watching his diet, he has special meals brought in that he’s eating, and we have one of the Raiders, a former player there with him to monitor him and make sure things are going fine. The weight thing, he’ll get it down. He’ll get it down.

Jerry McDonald of InsideBayArea.com reports that the former Raiders player helping Russell lose weight is Eddie Anderson.

Hate to ruin Brown’s surprise, but I’ve obtained a photo of Russell taken last Friday at the Lakers-Suns game in Phoenix:

(Hope he’s got that watch set to “stun”)

Might not want to call off the search party for JaMarcus’ jaw line just yet.

Brown also maintained the Russell missed the first day of voluntary team workouts this week because of a real estate transaction:

“He’s trying to close a home in Alabama. It’s something that he couldn’t get out of. You don’t want to lose your home. So he’ll be back in town today and ready to go (Tuesday).”

Amazing how the closing ended up on the first day of PITA wind sprints. Sheer coincidence, I’m sure.

Ok….I understand his contract pays an insane amount but I have a few questions

One….is he even considered the starter as of right now?

Two…where is his financial advisor? You’d think they’d tell him maybe start putting some money away instead of buying houses and putting all those gawdy diamonds all over you. He could easily be cut in the off season if al davis gets all hot and bothered over one of the qb’s in the upcoming draft.

Three…..will him losing weight aint gonna solve his poor throwing skills?

Four….if he plays horribly this year can we all agree he’s officially surpassed ryan leaf as the bigger bust than ryan leaf?

Look at all that stupid bling Russell wears. … He is a bust, stiff and a slacker. … Nice job, Al.

sad to see that much talent thrown away (speaking of, perhaps he could throw the ball away instead of waiting to strip sacked).

hey itjusme… I agree to an extent. Houses arent’ what I’d worry about but the stupid jewelry is essentially worthless customized like that.

If he simply bought diamonds and gold they’d have an appreciable re-sale but unless rappers continue to make platinum a precious metal forever it’s value will drop.

Houses are never a bad investment…assuming our economy bounces back

its been time to go for JR , make him pay back the money he never earned……. he is a prime example of why the rules for rookies NEED to be changed !

JR has no respect for the fans, his team, his team mates, his family or his future. He is one and done. He gets a lucrative contract and eats his way to distinction as one of the worst ever QB’s in the history of the game. No wonder Kiffen did not want this slob of a blob. As it has been proven time and again the past 10 years, Al Davis has more money than brains or managerial skill sets. This punk does not deserve the NFL, Raider Nation or the time of day.
