UPDATE (10:07pm ET): A Minnesota media source tells me the song will air on KMSP-TV at 9:43pm CT. I was also told the song “was not great.”
KMSP-TV reports tonight: “It’s confirmed- Robyne Robinson has the exclusive unveiling of Prince’s ‘Vikings Fight Song’- tonight on FOX 9 News at 9.”
Robinson is a news anchor for the station.
Perhaps Prince was inspired by Brett Favre’s “game blouse” this season.
Prince was seen in a luxury box last Sunday during the Vikings playoff win.

I am a huge Prince fan. People who know me know this. I think he’s may be the greatest genius in popular music. Hundreds of songs that a sheer brilliance. But the best thing about this dude… when he makes a terrible song, he does not go half-steppin’. Whooooo. This is “must be the money” awful.

Someone must be trying to set Prince up! This sounds like he was having dinner guests learn the song around the table. Anybody that has ever been in a recording studio would NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER, let this recording hit any street!!

I think it’s a very traditional fight song and it’s catchy! I think the haters should just keep quiet. Prince will always be one of the most creative genius musicians on the planet. Come on people. He wrote it for his hometown team and wasn’t asked to do it-he just felt the creative urge and I think he did a great job. Go ahead Prince…don’t listen to the haters.

For 15 years I thought the vikings fight song was corny and outdated!!! I once thought it was GO VIKINGS! which makes more sense than SKOL VIKINGS. I mean wtf might as well make it SCORE VIKINGS!
