I don't think the Mexican justice system is as reliable as you give it credit for.

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/04/02/sports/BKO-Portland-St-Players-Released.php

"Dominguez and Morrison were arrested three days after the fight.

Investigator Omar Barajas said the two were initially taken into custody for public drinking, but then one of Meagher's acquaintances said they may have been responsible for the fight. However, that acquaintance has since disappeared and never made a formal accusation."

This is why people keep trashing blogs. No journalistic integrity. You just can't conclude someone is guilty or not guilty based on assumptions from a news article. Heck, there's even still a chance it ends up they did do it.

So it goes from the Oregonian blog to here to Deadspin, where thousands of people read it and take it for fact when it's not necessarily, and I doubt an update would be as hyped up as to be noticed by everyone who read the original. Can you see how that would suck for the players and their families?

Funny thing about running a popular website is that eventually you have to take responsibility for what you say.

I can't believe the mother of the victim's reaction - not wanting the players to be stuck in Mexico. Amazing. Talk about a saint.
