The PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW reports that Panthers junior forward Levance Fields was zapped outside the Pure Pittsburgh nightclub early Sunday morning, after making a grab for the cop’s gun.

Fields was yelling and screaming inside the club, and soon took his shouting match outside. Officer Michael Johns, working as club security, approached Fields to tell him to stop, when Fields punched Johns in the chest and tried to take his weapon.

A 2nd security guard shot Fields with a Taser, causing the Pitt player to fall. After being picked up and treated at a local hospital, Fields was tossed into the county jail and charged with numerous offenses, including aggravated assault and disarming an officer.

Fields was a finalist for last year’s Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation’s best college point guard. Now, all he has to look forward to is a Sept. 24 court date, and a liekly draft selection by the Portland Trail Blazers.
