Pitt Beat Reporter Hasn’t Heard Of Erin Andrews?

Maybe I’m being a little arrogant, but I’ve always said that if a sports media person isn’t reading sites like SbB or DEADSPIN, they aren’t doing their job. I felt similarly when I read this post on BUSTED COVERAGE today about the curious case of Pitt Panthers football beat reporter Paul Zeise.

paul zeise doesn tknow erin andrews

(Paul, Erin, Erin, Paul)

During an online chat on the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE’s website yesterday, Zeise was asked, “Is Erin Andrews hotter in person or on TV?”

Reise’s response: “I have no idea who that is.”

So Mr. Reise doesn’t watch ESPN? Or observe the new-fangled contraption known as the internet? I know covering the Wannstache 24/7 can be somewhat distracting, mesmorizing even. But that’s a pretty astonishing response. And like you, I tend to not believe him.

I think we might have ourselves an all-star political prisoner training dummy for the good folks down in Guantanamo. Or the next great used car salesman of our generation.

What’s next for Zeise? I’m guessing covering Kim Jong Il’s next round of golf.

Sarcasm is very hard to translate into the written word.

If he was joking, Zeise should have written something like, "I have no idea who that is (laughs)".

This guy just might be serious.

How could this guy be so oblivious to the existence of the hottest sideline reporter ever?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Leave it to a Pitt Panther reporter not to have any idea who the most famous college football reporter ever is.

He probably also thinks ESPN is some sort of telepathic sense.

He's probably just jealous that Erin gets more attention than he does. Lose the goatee, and you might have a chance to grab that big media spotlight.

He still hasn't answered the Erin Andrews Hot or Not question. A simple yes or no will do, sir.

For his next assignment, Paul Zeise is going to report on this upstart organization called the National Football League. It's like collegiate football, except the players get paid. What an earth-shattering idea!
