MY FREE SPORT dashes up with the best thing to come out of Norway since lutefisk and Kathie Lee-free cruise lines: ravishing runner Kristine Engeset.

The 19-year-old Scandinavian is an up-and-coming track & field star, as she’s been making big strides toward the big time. At the 2007 European Junior Championships, she won the silver in the 3000-meter steeplechase. And she has her eye on Beijing, hoping to compete in this year’s Olympics.

In the meantime, everyone else will have their eyes on her.

When Engeset is not tearing up the track, she’s doing her little turn on the catwalk. Kristine is also pursuing a part-time career as a model, even spending some brief time at a London fashion show. And Puma likes what they see in her, as the sportswear maker recently signed the Norwegian runner to a marketing deal.

We like what we see in her, too.

While Kristine becomes a European sensation, there was a chance she could have displayed her fast-footed skills in the U.S. collegiate ranks.

Engeset had reportedly signed a letter of intent with SMU back in 2006. But she apparently didn’t want to dally in Dallas, instead deciding to stay in her home county and attend the University of Stavanger, where she’s studying religion.

Makes sense, since she probably hears a lot of guys saying “Oh my God!” when they see her.
