Move over, Danica Patrick - another lady racer who’s been sending hearts a-racin’ is joining you in the Winner’s Circle.
(L: Delectable driver Danica Patrick; R: Awesome auto gal Ashley Force)
RACING FOR THE WIN reports that dragster Ashley Force claimed victory in Atlanta on Sunday, becoming the first female Funny Car winner in NHRA history.
What made the victory more memorable is that Ashley was able to defeat her dad:
In a classic battle of father vs. daughter, it was daughter who took the win. Ashley Force took off early, with a tenth of a second reaction time, beating John off the tree. It was over from there, John Force’s chances went up in smoke and Ashley Force streaked across the quarter-mile to pick up her first career NHRA Funny Car victory.
John must be proud of his little girl - or p.o.’ed that he lost to a chick. At least he was around to see it - even if it was from Ashley’s rearview window. Wonder how the Force family’s Sunday night dinner went.
Despite just getting her first win in 27 tries, Ashley still somehow leads in the NHRA Funny Car point bracket.
Maybe they’ve given her extra points for being so gosh darn cute. She was named AOL’s Hottest Athlete, after all.
