I received an email from a listener/reader who was at the event. This is how it read.
Here’s a pic of the Jets’ coach as he smiles and flicks off two of my friends at a recent MMA show in South Florida. They identified themselves as Dolphin fans and thus this is his reaction. You tend to expect some sort of a class from a head coach, or at least you used to…
Why do I have a feeling that the photographer’s friends did a little more than “identify themselves as Dolphin fans” to cause Ryan’s gesticulative reaction?
Ryan also did an interview on Showtime during the event which was aired over the public address system.
You probably won’t be surprised to find out that the coach said something that didn’t make Dolphins fans happy.
“I just want to tell everyone in Miami that we’re coming to beat you twice next year.”

But you all forget, Dolphin fans like most Florida sports fans would rather beat their rivals in a season series than win a super bowl. That’s why S.Fla fans are the worst in sports. They seem to think they won a ring for winning the AFC East last year, when in fact they won as many playoff games as the 0-16 Lions did. That’d be ZERO. All offseason they puffed out their chest as if they won something important, saying they should be the team to beat, when everyone saw they beat NO ONE on their way to the AFC east title. That’s why no one had them winning ti this year because it was a lucky roll the schedule. Guess what happened, they couldn’t even finish .500. They can’t sell out their own games without the help of other fans, they are pathetic fans top to bottom. 2. The only reason they beat the Bengals is because of extremely sloppy play and 4 turnovers.

So the Dolphins beat the Jets twice this year, but the Jets played in the AFC Championship game. Does not matter if they backed their way in, got a lucky bounce or used a Vodoo doll to get their point across. All that matters is they made it to the AFC Championship game, one game from the Super Bowl. I would take that every year vs not making the playoffs, but being excited about beating one team twice. Firstly, one good season does not predict the future. Just ask Dick Jauron or Gruden or Mangini. Jets making it to the AFC championship was a big deal; however, until the future shows consistency, it may have been a fluke. Miami did beat the Jets twice and had the hardest schedule in the NFL. Are the dolphins better than the Jets…not when it came to playing other teams. Head to head… definitely… the fins beat the jets TWICE.
However, why did these blogs get off topic. It is not about who is the best team or the worse team (BTW the super bowl would say the colts and the saints are the best). What the blog should be about is Rex Ryan’s behavior. Maybe he was trying to be funny and playing around. The problem is that he is a role model. He should think about his actions. He is too quick to react, especially in his press conferences, and it gets hime in trouble. HELLO… New York media blows things up bigger than they are to begin with. He needs to think about the things he does before he says them. And if he does think before he says his stupidity remarks, that shows that he does not know what he is talking about. Rex Ryan has the potential to be a fantastic coach, but he needs to keep his oth closed. His remarks could potentially hurt the franchise like Cable in Oakland. The last thing we need is a poor role model who shows poor judgement. Our children in this country do not need any more examples or exposure to bad judgement from celebrity role models, especially our kids in New York.
Mr. Ryan apologized, let’s accept his apology and move on. However, if he keeps saying or making bonehead jestures and remarks, an apology can only go so far. Mr. Ryan, this is your third chance.

The NY Jets had a good all around team this season, Mark Sanchez and most of the players in NY are a class act, wish him the best. However, the Dolphins played with heart against their beloved division rivals and won twice. Call it what you want Jet Fans, it still hurts you regardless of how well your team did in the post season. Thats life!
