THE FIGHTINS’ realize that the Phillies’ announcers were in a nutty mood Thursday night, based on this little compilation clip from last night’s action against the Braves:
First, color commentator Sarge Matthews talks to the viewers at home about bat shaving, accompanied by a not-so-subtle close-up of a hand slowly stroking up & down a bat shaft. And Matthews’ comments don’t make it any less uncomfortable with the visual:
“And that’s what we would actually do, when you shave it down to the point where you like it, where it feels good with your hand.”
Good to know, Sarge! We’ll pass these tips along to Gilbert Arenas.
However, that wasn’t the last of the groinal adventures for the evening.
Later in the game, Braves batter Yuney Escobar took a swing at a Cole Hamels pitch, and sent it foul - right into Yuney’s family jewels.
The Phillies’ broadcasters first thought the ball hit him in the leg - or maybe they know something about Escobar’s mighty member that we don’t (nor do we want to know).
Still, it’s nice to see the guys have a ball - and hopefully Yuney still has his.
