WIS-TV in Columbia, SC reports today that Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has now overseen eight arrests in connection with the marijuana party Phelps attended in November, including, “seven for drug possession and one for distribution. These are arrests that resulted as the sheriff’s department served search warrants … the department has located and confiscated that bong.”
And about that bong? The owner of it was caught “trying to sell it on eBay for as much as $100,000.”
Phelps has yet to be charged, but he also hasn’t been cleared by the sheriff. That said, the Governor of South Carolina, Mark Sanford, came out last night and said he didn’t see the point in arresting and charging Phelps.
Wow, isn’t that great? Phelps is photographed smoking dope at a party and he’s the only one who doesn’t get arrested? Thanks Mike!
None of the names of the arrested parties have surfaced yet, but at least one media outlet is naming a person who could be involved in snapping the photo of Phelps.
From Columbia’s THE STATE:
A student at Ole Miss, for example, wrote on an Internet message board that a friend of his took the photo and “is real upset about the whole thing because he swears he didn’t sell it.” That friend — USC student Cason Milner — first denied, then told a reporter from The State he took a photo of Phelps at that house on his iPhone.
But he insists it wasn’t the photo that ran in the tabloid because, he said, he lost his phone with the photo.
Yesterday I sent Milner a message to his Facebook account. Today, his account had been deleted.
Maybe he’s just trying to get away from the deluge of endorsement offers from Cheetos and other corn puff-derived products.
