GAMMONS CARRIES WATER FOR MLB COMMISSIONER SELIG: Peter Gammons is a great baseball writer, but one of the reasons he’s so revered in baseball circles is he’s so deft at playing ball on both sides of the fence.

On Baseball Tonight last night, he said Bud Selig will show up for Barry Bonds’ record-breaking home run because he “realizes we have no idea really what happened in the last 20 years. Since (Selig) took over in September of ’92, a lot of this happened under his watch. Bud is going to accept the responsibility.”

Selig is accepting responsibility? Please. Gammons is propping the commish as sympathetic figure, which he in no way deserves - regardless if he knew about the rampant steroid abuse that has gone on in MLB for countless years.
