This post will rile up the MMA lovers... including me. The "officials who can't even tell the difference" when a fighter has excessive vaseline are state athletic commission employees, and the same officials who are present at boxing matches. MMA is not setting out and enforcing their own rules. The State Commissions are. Also, I'm not saying greasing doesn't go on (in MMA and Boxing), but is is illegal. Portraying MMA as a sport where participants slather themselves with vaseline and the governing bodies can't tell the difference is misrepresenting the situation. Obviously you are entitled to your opinion because this your blog, you just need to get your facts straight about how the sport is regulated (not to mention the rules).

Get your facts straight. Eye gouging, biting, strikes to the groin are all illegal yes. But so are strikes to the back of the head and knees to a downed opponent. There's really nothing barbaric about MMA. Refs stop the action before any fighter is in serious danger and doctors check cuts over fighters eyes just like Boxing.
