I'm not sure that's the case. Sure, the kid may have still had a line drive up the middle, back at him, regardless of the quality of the bat. However, would he have had time to react if the hitter had been using a less powerful bat? Even if it were hundreths of a second? I suppose that's what the kid's parents will be trying to prove in court.</description>
