Don Imus’ foot-in-mouth disease continues to reverberate, as the target of his latest set of ill-advised and racially charged comments, Dallas Cowboys CB Adam “No Longer Pacman” Jones, has responded to the old coot’s off-hand remark about his yellow sheet yesterday.
“I’m truly upset about the comments,” Jones said. “Obviously Mr. Imus has problems with African-Americans. I’m upset, and I hope the station he works for handles it accordingly. I will pray for him.”
For any of you out there that might be tempted to dismiss Jones’ statement based on his back history, don’t. Imus’ explanation of the remark being taken out of context is entirely possible (saying he was making a point that Jones was being picked on because he was black) — but it’s really easy to say that after the audio has already been distributed all over, and there’ s no qualification on tape.
Imus has to be smart enough to know that recent incidents leave him no leeway to be anything less than clear about his intentions on remarks involving race or sex, so this really does reek of grasping at straws by this point. But I doubt we’ll be seeing Adam Jones’ response to Imus getting the attention the way C. Vivian Stringer and the Rutgers’ women’s hoops team did over the “nappy-headed ho” remarks last year. There are probably too many people who think the same way about Jones that Imus did.

Gang,
The problem is not Imus. Hell, there are idiots all over the world saying just about what ever they want! The problem is news men thinking this is news and actually publishing the crap that comes out of this guys mouth! He deserves NO more attention.
