OU Recruit Arrested For Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend

Oklahoma Sooners football recruit Justin Chaisson is doing it wrong. You’re not supposed to compile a criminal record until after you arrive on campus. But Justin is starting his off with a real doozy.

Chaisson, a defensive end for Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, made his first appearance in court Thursday after his arrest for allegedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend, driving her to the desert, and threatening to kill her with a screwdriver.

The OKLAHOMAN has the news that according to a Vegas police report, Chaisson & his ex, who had broken up in February after dating for 2 1/2 years, had been arguing in a parking lot before the girl walked toward a coffee shop. And Justin followed right behind her:

Outside the coffee shop, according to the report, Chaisson grabbed the girl’s arm and forced her into the back seat of his sport-utility vehicle. His younger brother also was in the back seat, according to the report.

The girl told police Chaisson punched her in the ribs and drove her to the desert before pulling her out of the vehicle. She said he then placed a screwdriver to her neck and threatened to kill her.

Fortunately for the girl, two of her friends were following Chaisson. When they arrived, Chaisson grabbed her and threw her back in his vehicle. As one of the friends called 911, Chaisson drove the girl to a storage facility where he made her get out of his car.

After this harrowing ordeal, the girl’s stepfather met with Justin and his father:

“Mr. Chaisson mentioned that he has his son in anger management classes tomorrow, March 18, 2009,” the report states. “Mr. Chaisson also mentioned that his son has 53 days left in town before going to Oklahoma for a football scholarship.”

Obviously he’s going to need to do some extra homework. And it would appear that Justin will be staying in town a little longer - likely behind bars:

Chaisson faces three felonies: assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and coercion. He also faces a gross misdemeanor charge of false imprisonment and a misdemeanor charge of battery constituting domestic violence.

Meanwhile, OU officials have offered no comment about Justin’s possible jailing. It would be a shame if he missed out on the new Cowboys Stadium christening. But it would be more of a shame if Justin got off scot free.
