The NEW YORK POST reports today, “Ex-Giants superstar Tiki Barber has dumped his 8-months-pregnant wife, Ginny, for sexy former NBC intern Traci Lynn Johnson, sources told The Post last night.”
Barber announced he was separating from his wife off 11 years on Monday, exactly two weeks to the day after he was photographed accompanying Johnson at a premiere for a Travel Channel documentary he hosted.
Here are the original, uncropped shots from that event.
I’ve also confirmed through an NBC source that Barber was, as the Post also reported today, in the company of Johnson while on work detail at the Vancouver Olympics.
What’s most interesting to me about this otherwise garden-variety marriage breakup is this graf from the initial Barber divorce report in the Post yesterday:
Our source added that Tiki and Ginny “remain friends and will make sure this will cause the least possible disruption for their sons.”
That comment came two weeks after Barber was accompanied by Johnson to the Travel Channel premiere.
If Barber hadn’t provided the Post that smoking gun evidence - before news of the breakup - he might’ve avoided today’s colossal embarrassment. And for all we know, with Barber out of the house and the couple effectively separated, Ginny was resigned to Barber seeing other women.
The reason I bring all that up is some will assume that Ginny’s camp leaked today’s story to not only injure Barber’s media career but to improve her leverage in a divorce settlement. But as she’s apparently known about Barber’s new “girlfriend” for months, I’m not so sure that’s the case.

I chose the name TikiFan because he is my favorite athlete and I want to put it out there that I am biased and am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt more than most people.
I’m not saying that Tiki didn’t do these things. Perhaps he did, and it was a terrible thing to do to his wife and his children. But we just don’t know what actually happened. All we know is that New York Post sources claim that he is in a relationship and that he announced publicly that they split up.
Everything else is speculation. If she is his assistant, then she would be seen at public events, seated next to him. Are there any pictures of the two of them kissing, or out to dinner, or doing anything romantically-insinuating? Not yet.
We have not heard from Tiki, from Ginny, or from this girl. We don’t even know who is the source of these allegations. Shouldn’t we wait to have more concrete evidence before completely tearing him down as a person?
If it turns out that he dumped his unsuspecting pregnant wife for a younger woman, then I will lose a lot of respect for him as a person. But until then, I’ll reserve judgment.
Furthermore, even if it’s true, then he indeed cheated on his pregnant wife, then he only ruined his marriage and did something very hurtful to his wife and it will have a bad impact on his children. I am neither minimizing nor excusing it. But it will not erase the plenty of goodwill and charitable work he has done for the different communities where he lived.

I am an educated black woman. I don’t care about that at all. It is sad that our men pretty much doesn’t want us. We dont have a chance. I have been in clubs and black men has walked past us to get to the white woman.. so I say, go. They can have them. I date outside of my race, white, asian.. whatever. I given up on them.
