BUT you really must get your information correct. A root beer float will NOT kill my diabetic child. Children with type 1 diabetes eat the same foods you and I do. They need to take insulin by injection or pump to cover the carbs that they have consumed, whether they are from root beer floats or an apple. Our children's disease is an autoimmune disease. Their bodies destroyed the insulin producing cells in the pancreas. Therefore they must receive insulin via syringe or pump in order for their bodies to use the glucose properly. Please research before you make such comments. The type 1 diabetes community is always educating because too many people assume the same thing you did. It is a constant battle to educate. Our children deal with enough with the finger sticks many times a day, injections or site changes without the uninformed, inaccurate and rude comments that people make. That has to be dumbest, most uneducated statement I've heard in a long time. I bet the A's would be glad to here that you are bashing their funraiser.. at least THEY are adding to the cummunity in a postive way, while your just poluting the air with your garbage! Our Type1 Diabetic (aka Juvenile Diabetic) child tries to live as normal of a life as the rest of us. Perpetuating this idea that sugar can KILL diabetics (no matter what type)..is just wrong.
