After a month & a half since Kevin White departed for Duke, the University of Notre Dame has finally found someone to direct their athletic department. And the new man in charge will be … John “Jack” Swarbrick.
A few questions come to mind with the Irish’s new hire. Namely - Who?
Fortunately, the FORT WAYNE JOURNAL GAZETTE uncovers some of the feats Swarbick has under his belt that qualifies him to become A.D. of one of the most famous colleges in the American sports landscape.
Swarbrick is currently a partner of the Baker & Daniels law firm located in Indianapolis. He was vice president of the 2012 Super Bowl Committee, which chose Indy to host that year’s big game. He was a finalist for the NCAA president’s job, only to lose out to Myles Brand. Jack was also on the boards for the 1987 Pan American Games & the 1991 World Gymnastics Championships.
Most impressive. Oh, but we’re forgetting the most important resume item of them all - he’s a 1976 ND graduate. If you’re still curious about the guy, here’s some more info from the Baker & Daniels site. But each web page visit will cost you $300 per minute in legal fees.
The CHICAGO TRIBUNE follows up that the 54-year-old Swarbrick will be officially welcomed as A.D. in a news conference scheduled for Wednesday morning.
Good luck, Jack. You’ll need it. And if Notre Dame ever fires you, you have enough knowledge to sue the school for wrongful termination.
