In fact, ND and Rutgers were ohthisclose to putting together a 4-year home-and-away series, 2 games in South Bend, 2 games in the Meadowlands. Rutgers rejected the offer because they want all their home games on campus. Notre Dame and Army would be better off playing at the new Meadowlands stadium — it's built for football and will seat over 80,000.
