Bruce Garrioch of the TORONTO SUN has what we hope is an erroneous report. Apparently the NHL is considering completely cancelling the league’s all-star game.

Excerpt:”Though cancelling the game seems a little harsh, there are proponents of that route in the NHL headquarters. At the very least, it would appear the skills competition is going to become a victim of the changes once the league figures out what direction it wants to take.”
Next year’s game in Montreal is definitely a go, but future games after that are up in the air. One option would be to cancel the skills competition and have a “headliner concert” the night before the game. That certainly would create a dilemma on which act would be chosen.
We have our money on Corey Hart, but Shania Twain is obviously the favorite. Also under consideration: Bare Naked Ladies, Crash Test Dummies and April Wine. If Roger Goodell was making the choice, it would no doubt be Neil Young (any artist under 60 not considered).
League executive source to the Sun: “I haven’t heard any positive comments about the skills competition at all. The players think it’s painful, the changes to the competition didn’t work and quite frankly, the players are bored with the whole thing.”
The players are bored?

Whatever will Versus air now? Ultimate rodeo fighting?

If it’s not on ESPN, who really cares? The NHL is so stupid to have their games on Versus. And to re-up with them? Idiots.
If they do the pre-game concert, they should use Rush - Canadian, always touring, and they just came out with a new album. Have Neil Peart do a drum solo with hockey sticks!

They should bring the All Star Game outside. Look how many people came out for Buffalo.
