NFL SPIKED BORDER PATROL RECRUITMENT AD: ABC News’ website reports NFL PR mouthpiece Greg Aiello said the league rebuffed an attempt by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to run a print ad recruiting U.S. Border Patrol agents in its official 2007 Super Bowl program.

Aiello said the “the sensitive political nature” of the ad, which “was specific to border patrol and mentioned terrorists“, made the NFL uncomfortable, since the game “was in Miami, where [immigration] is a sensitive political issue.”
The league did ask for a “more generic recruiting ad“, but the DHS did not respond to the request.
