YANKEES TO VISIT VIRGINIA TECH FOR EXHIBITION GAME: The New York Yankees announced they will play Virginia Tech in an exhibition game next spring:

The Yanks will be coming to Blacksburg on March 18 to face the Hokies at English Field. The game is in honor of the 32 students and faculty who died in last April’s horrific campus shooting spree.The exhibition is the latest move by the Bronx Bombers in helping the school heal. Last May, the Yankees honored the university with special ceremonies and tributes during a game against the Red Sox.

Tech president Charles Steger threw out the first pitch, while the players wore caps featuring a ‘VT’ logo. In a pre-game ceremony, the team donated $1 million to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.
