Things have gone from “bad” to “oh holy hell no” in the Big Easy this weekend, as the Saints‘ 30-7 stinkfest wasn’t their worst loss of the afternoon. During coverage of today’s late games, CBS announced that Reggie Bush had torn his meniscus in the drubbing.
Next up for Bush is arthroscopic surgery, obviously; the meniscus is vital to proper weight distribution when running, and Reggie Bush kinda sorta needs that. Rehab won’t be terribly bad, though. The timetable looks like just 3+ weeks for recovery, not the 9-12 months usually slotted for major knee ligament repair.
This means Bush won’t be flying to London with his teammates for next weekend’s tilt with San Diego at Wembley Stadium. “Wembley”? Christ, can the British give anything a name that doesn’t sound effete? You know what they call a club with which to crush people’s skulls? A “cudgel.” What the hell.
But I digress. Bush, as mentioned before, is out at least three weeks, and odds are that he won’t be at 100% for much longer than that. It’s hardly consequential, though, as the Saints are 3-4 and unlikely to make the playoffs as it is. You know the NFL would prefer sending a Saints team with the star athlete to Britain to show off their product, though. Yeah, San Diego has LaDainian Tomlinson, but who are they going to hype up for the Saints now? Drew Brees? Marques Colston? Yeah, Best of luck with that.
